War Rocket Ajax #46: Reggaeton Rap Stars with Tom Fowler and Jen Vaughn

This week on War Rocket Ajax, we throw our usual format out the window and hang out with a couple of good friends for two hours, talking about comics and taking your listener questions!

Our guests this time are long-time friend of the show Tom Fowler, artist of Mysterius the Unfathomable, and lovely newcomer Jen Vaughn, artist of Mermaid Hostel! Join us as we discuss a truly staggering array of topics, both of our choosing and yours. And yes, while we do discuss pro wrestling at length — including a good look at this week’s Deadpool Team-Up #888, which features the first comic book appearance of the War Rocket Ajax crew — but I think we make up for it by having the show’s first ever conversation about menstruation.

As always, if you like it, leave a comment or write a review on iTunes, and be back next week for our post-Halloween show!

War Rocket Ajax #45: Nexus or Against Us with Jarrett Williams

SNAP INTO AN ALL-NEW WAR ROCKET AJAX! This time around, Euge and I step into the ring with Jarrett Williams, creator of the awesome new graphic novel Super Pro K.O., and I take the opportunity to lose as many listeners as I can by talking about pro wrestling for a solid hour. Deal with it.

We also recap our trip to the New York Comic-Con and give Big Ups to perhaps the most unexpected hater of all! So whatcha gonmna do, brother, when War Rocket Ajax runs wild on you?!

And hey, if that’s not enough to satisfy your desire to hear me rambling on, then check out the special Castlevania episode of the Nerdy Show, where I talk about my utter love of games where you basically trash Dracula’s house until he gets mad enough to try to eat you.

It was the show that finally prompted me to order the new Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, although as you’ll hear, my expertise on the franchise is quickly classified as “dubious” by the rest of the crew.

But seriously, it was a fun time, and as ISB readers have probably already guessed, I enjoy running my mouth more than pretty much anything else in the world, and I’m always glad to be interviewed about stuff I had absolutely no hand in creating. But damn if I don’t love those games.

War Rocket Ajax #44: Gorilla Stripper With Brandon Jerwa

The Galaxy’s Most Destructive Podcast is back as Euge and I sit down with writer Brandon Jerwa, and believe it or not, the picture above is actually totally relevant to what we’re talking about.

So join us as we talk about the twisted path one takes to comics writing, then discuss one of my great passions, GI Joe, delving into just how much Lifeline sucks, the perils of injuring General Hawk, and just why the hell Destro hangs out with those guys, anyway. Plus, I throw some love at one of my new favorite rappers who is not Euge.

It’s a good time, but we’ve also got a very special announcement at the top of the show that you guys oughtta hear. It’s up now at the website, and should be available on iTunes soon, so hey, why not leave us a nice review?

War Rocket Ajax #43: Mass Effects With Colleen Coover

At this point, we all know that Colleen Coover is a pretty fantastic comic book creator, but what you might not know is that she loves the hell out of some video games. And since Euge and I feel the same way, we asked Colleen back on the show to talk about nothing but games! So, you know, if there’s anyone out there who loves comics but just hates video games, uh, well, you should probably skip this one.

The rest of you, however, can enjoy Colleen raving about her love for Mass Effect, Dragon Age, her resistance to Red Dead Redemption, and my often-quoted love of Rockstar’s Bully: Scholarship Edition.

Just be glad I didn’t get Pokemon until after we finished recording.

It was great fun for us to have Collen back as our second-ever three-time guest, because she’s seriously one of the nicest, most fun people to talk to, and if you guys like it, we might try branching out into more theme shows (or maybe just more shows where we lament the demise of Tony Hawk Pro Skater franchise later. So let us know what you think, or write up an iTunes review! Unless you don’t like it, in which case…. I dunno, complain about it on your blog or something. That’s what I did!

War Rocket Ajax #42: Almond Joy, Featuring Phil Hester

This week, War Rocket Ajax returns to action as Euge and I sit down to talk to one of my favorite creators, writer/artist Phil Hester! I reminisce about meeting him at my first convention, and Phil tells us all about his experiences working on books like Swamp Thing, Green Arrow, The Darkness and his own creator-owned projects, then essentially challenges editors to find a book that he doesn’t want to work on.

Plus, Euge recaps his amazing experiences at SPX with a story that virtually ensures I’m heading up there next year, I completely space out while he reviews a comic I’ve actually read (which I swear to God, I didn’t realize until I listened to my own show), and in a shocking listener mail segment, I actually drink something recommended by one of you!

The show’s up now at the website available to download or stream, and the iTunes feed will update shortly for our subscribers. Let us know what you think, and we will most likely make fun of you on the air!

The Return of Awesomed By Chris!

As you may have noticed, we didn’t have an episode of War Rocket Ajax this week thanks to Euge traveling around to this year’s Small Press Expo (X-Po?), but if you’re worried about missing out on me babbling into a microphone for an hour, don’t fret: I was invited back to be the first ever three-time guest of The Awesomed By Comics Podcast!

Evie and Aaron are good friends and good people, and doing their show is always a treat, so tune in and you’ll hear me give a rundown on my favorite (and least favorite) things that happened this week in comics. And I’ve gotta admit, for a week when a Grant Morrison Batman title came out — something that usually sends me into a Monday morning fit of all-caps IMs to Evie while I’m listening to the show — I didn’t actually argue with ’em about anything. Well, maybe a little.

But only a little!

War Rocket Ajax #41: I’m With Vs. Featuring Nate Cosby

This week, War Rocket Ajax is back in action for your satisfaction and guaranteed to put your ass in traction as we sit down with Marvel editor Nathan Cosby! Cosby is one of the guys we’ve been wanting to get on the show forever owing to his role as the editor of Incredible Hercules, Agents of Atlas, the Marvel Adventures line, and a host of our other favorite comics, and when we finally get him, it’s worth the wait. So listen in as we discuss Greg Pak’s beard, Jordan White’s moustache, and of course, Raekwon the Chef.

And yes: All your Nova vs. Horse questions are answered.

Also, Euge and I discuss Archie’s new gay classmate, nerd out over the end of Preacher, I do my best to make dream analysis funny (and fail miserably), and of course, we give big ups to another round of haters, as that is what you demand.

The episode is available to stream or download right now, with the iTunes feed to follow shortly! And hey, if you like that iTunes feed so much why don’t you marry it write us a nice review?
