War Rocket Ajax #40: Live-To-Tape Computer Crash Special

This week, the world’s most destructive comic book podcast was all set to have a bang-up show with Phil Hester as our special guest, but unfortunately, Euge’s computer went kaboom and derailed those plans pretty effectively.

So instead, we slapped together an hour-long live-to-tape show where Euge and I talk about comics, haters and (of course) the Wu Tang Clan, just to make sure we’ve got something for The People.

I know: Only on War Rocket Ajax could two guys rambling at each other for an hour be considered a “mini-show.” Enjoy!

The West Coast Avengers Mixtape!

If you’ve been listening to War Rocket Ajax, then you already know about Euge’s brand-new West Coast Avengers mixtape, where he created a song for each member of the West Coast Avengers and set it to a famous West Coast hip hop beat. Today, the mixtape has dropped exclusively at ComicsAlliance, and it is awesome!

And aside from being a great listen, it also features a good chunk of the ISB/Ajax/Adam Warrock family: Benjamin Birdie‘s on it, Curt and Chris make appearances (and Chris contributes the album art), and even I’m on it in an extremely short and pretty much mandatory “skit” that Euge and I thought was hilarious when we came up with it. So go and listen! It’s good stuff, and it’ll get you in the mood for the release of Euge’s album The War For Infinity, which drops in exactly one month!

War Rocket Ajax #39: What’s Old is New Again!

War Rocket Ajax is back with its massive One Year Anniversary Special, in which Euge and I sit down with… well, nobody, actually.

That’s right, we have no guest this week. Instead, we look back on what we’ve accomplished with a year of podcasting (not much), answer a string of listener questions, and go over some reader complaints with our typical grace and subtlety in the highly demanded return of Big Ups To All My Haters! Plus, you’ll hear my late-to-the-party endorsement of Avatar: The Last Airbender and an even more longwinded discussion of Everybody Was In The French Resistance… Now! than I wrote last week, and if you make it all the way to the end of the show, you might even get a special look back at our very first episode.

Next week, our second year begins in full force… assuming manage to wrangle a guest.

War Rocket Ajax #38: StacheCon with Paul Tobin

After missing a week due to inclement weather, War Rocket Ajax is back with the final episode of our first year, in which we chat with writer Paul Tobin about Spider-Man’s relationships, what happens when Dr. Doom wins, and — of course — how the Punisher does his laundry. Plus, Euge resists pimping his single (leaving me to do it for him), I discuss Castlevania and my recent music purchases, and for a podcast ostensibly about comic books, we sure as hell devote a lot of time to discussing Glee.

That’s right, everybody: Tomorrow marks Ajax’s one-year anniversary, and I’ve got to say that while we might not always sound like it, Euge and I are awfully proud of what we’ve done, and while I will never again mention it, I’m glad and grateful to have people actually listen to each show. So thanks, and we’ll be back next week for the start of our second year!

War Rocket Ajax #37: Electric Sliding with David Wolkin

War Rocket Ajax is back with our San Diego Comic-Con wrap-up show, featuring special guest and ComicsAlliance contributor David Wolkin to discuss the Beast that is the San Diego Comic-Con and the beautiful consumer majesty of the SkyMall catalog.

That’s all par for the course on War Rocket Ajax, but this episode answers a burning question that I know so many of you have had: “Chris Sims, is there a way I can put an idealized version of you on a piece of clothing that I can then put on my body?” Well, there is not.

Until now!!

That’s right, folks: It’s the all-new War Rocket Ajax t-shirt featuring a design by our original poster artist, “The” Rusty Shackles! So go pick one up today — Euge ain’t got no job!

War Rocket Ajax #36: Cocoa Bagels featuring Matt Wilson

As you can see from the picture above, I spent the weekend at San Diego’s Comic-Con International, and wasn’t able to record War Rocket Ajax this week. But! A War Rocket Ajax without Chris Sims is still the world’s most destructive comics and pop culture podcast, and this time around our pal Matt Wilson sits in for me to talk about comics, bagels, neck tattoos and other assorted dreams.

Plus, Euge cut in two short voicemails I left him from the con in an exhausted and slightly inebriated state. Just so you know, the “Caitlin” and “Richelle” that are mentioned are novelists Caitlin Kittredge and Richelle Mead, two online pals that I met for the first time out West.

They, like everyone else I met out there, were super-nice and totally cool, but I’m sure I’ll get into it next time.

War Rocket Ajax #35: Truckopathic Powers With Brian Clevinger

War Rocket Ajax is back with our pre-San Diego Comic-Con Spectacular where we don’t actually talk about San Diego at all! Instead, we invite Atomic Robo writer Brian Clevinger to sit down and chat about Robo’s mouth, his plans for the Infinity Gauntlet, and how not to get fired by Marvel Comics!

Also, join us as I do my best to explain Alvin Greene to non-South Carolinians, delve into my thoughts on Superman #701, and offer up an extremely detailed summary of the greatest trucking comic ever printed, U.S. 1!
