War Rocket Ajax #15: Win By Face Murder with Blair Butler!

This week on War Rocket Ajax, Matt and I continue our unofficial War Rocket Ajax Lady Month as we chat with Blair Butler about reviewing comics on TV, her love of MMA, and her upcoming comic, Heart. She’s a lot of fun, and while she did not convince me that there was anything in Mixed Martial Arts that was even half as awesome as the Dusty Rhodes “Hard Times” promo, she did her level best.

Also, I think I forgot to mention last week’s episode here at the ISB, but we talked to Dark Horse Editor Rachel Edidin, one of my favorite people, about editing Dr. McNinja, AxeCop and others. It was such a good time that it inspired me to get a mohawk this weekend.

And yes, we know the iTunes feed isn’t working. Unfortunately, we had to nuke it from orbit last week, but there’s a new one getting set up right now. In the meantime, feel free to stream the episodes from CA, or download them from WarRocketAjax.com, and we’ll let you know when the new feed’s ready to go!

War Rocket Ajax #13: Sorry, Dudes With Jess Fink

This week on War Rocket Ajax, Matt and I are thrilled to welcome the creator behind one of my favorite webcomics, Chester 5000 XYV‘s Jess Fink! She joins us to talk about what it’s like to create probably the best best piece of romantic Victorian robot erotica on the entire Internet, as well as the methodology of turning oneself into an Angler fish.

Plus, Evie and Aaron stop by as part of their celebration of 150 episodes, and considering the year is 2011, we get a lot of talk about the Spin Doctors in.

Please Note: We’re having some server issues, so the iTunes feed won’t update for at least a couple of days. ‘Til then, feel free to stream it from CA or WarRocketAjax.com, where you can also download the episode if you listen on an iPod or the like. Sorry for the inconvenience, but everything should go much smoother soon.

War Rocket Ajax #11: The Superman Exit Interview with Chris Roberson

This week on War Rocket Ajax, Matt and I are pleased as punch to welcome back Chris Roberson, who comes to the show for an open, honest and brutally frank discussion of his time as the writer of Superman, picking up from J. Michael Straczynski to take over “Grounded.”

Chris is always great to have on the show, and this episode is no exception. Plus, the Hundo Club returns with some good times and some incredibly controversial Zelda bashing!

War Rocket Ajax #10: Lurking In an Alley with Michael Kupperman

This week, Matt and I chat with the hilarious Michael Kupperman, creator of Tales Designed To Thrizzle, Snake ‘n’ Bacon and his new book Mark Twain’s Autobiography: 1910 – 2010, in which Twain recounts the previous hundred years of his life.

Because he’s an immortal who got cursed by a wizard, you see. And the fact that this is mentioned in exactly one sentence of the book should give you a clue as to how awesome it is.

War Rocket Ajax #9: The Dead Don’t Need Music, with Greg Rucka

This week, War Rocket Ajax boasts a guest where I’m pretty sure that I’ve read everything he’s written: Punisher and Detective Comics writer Greg Rucka! I am a huge fan of his, and we have a great time picking his brain about Batman, Frank Castle and yes, even Wonder Woman. It’s a good time, and hopefully the first of many, so check it out!

And HEY! If you’re not already asking questions for the show on Twitter, you may want to do so this Thursday when we interview Michael Kupperman, because one lucky questioner will be getting a copy of his new book! Listen to the show and learn how, you cretins!

War Rocket Ajax #5: It’s Nice And There’s No Poop On It with Carly Monardo

This week on War Rocket Ajax, Matt and I sit down with the multitalented Carly Monardo for a talk about her work on Venture Bros., the VHS aesthetic she brought to her covers for the Dr. McNinja paperbacks, and how her latest creation (with Kate Beaton and Meredith Gran), the Strong Female Characters, came about.

Plus, we finally get around to an in-depth discussion of both of this summer’s major crossovers — including us bickering over Flashpoint like a married couple — and what might just be the Biggest Ups To All My Haters Ever!
