  1. As someone who collects covers of the 60’s Spider-Man theme, I would love to get Dio doing a cover of same.

  2. Have you noticed that Ronnie James Dio and Steve Ditko are never seen together at the same time?

[INSERT Silver Age Lois Lane in deep thought.]

  3. The trick is that Dio is missing one of the tips of his thumbs if an interview I read like four years ago is still accurate. So you just need to cuff Spider-Man and remove his gloves. If he is wearing a falsey thumb tip on either hand then he’s your man.

  4. that is an AWESOME spiderman [sic] action figure

It’s from the new line of Joe-scale Marvel figures. Now I can pretend that Stalker, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and the Punisher were all in ‘Nam together!

  5. Absolutely NOT to 2nd guess you here, but…. I was at first wondering if comparing Dio to Dr. Strange might have been a (thematically) “better” way to go.

But, Doc is usually shown keeping his thumb out, isn’t he?
More the; “American sign-language spell of ‘I love you’ ” isn’t it?

Oh well… see? Who am I to try and suggest “better” than what Sims has already proven to be perfect?

    Rock on, Dio-Spidey. Rock. On.

    ~P~

Yeah, that’s the thing: That’s what Spider-Man does too. But on the new figure, he’s not shooting webs, he’s throwing up the horns. They messed up and made it awesome.

    OR DID THEY?

  7. Joe-sized superhero action figures? Do you realize how perfect that would have made my childhood? All I had were those Secret Wars action figures and they did not mesh very well with my Joes…

  8. Now I can pretend that Stalker, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and the Punisher were all in ‘Nam together!

    Wait… you mean… they weren’t?

  9. there was an article years ago (circa 2001) on Marvel.com wherein Gene Simmons claimed that he invented the “horns” / sign of the beast at a photo shoot by imitating Spider-Man’s (and Doc Strange’s) fingers.

  10. “Now I can pretend that Stalker, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and the Punisher were all in ‘Nam together!”

    That is too much.

That is seriously too much whup-ass.

  11. “God knows why he usually keeps his thumb out. It’s much less painful to tuck it.”

his thumb would get in the way of the webbing if he didnt.

  12. Hmm. Looking at the way Spidey is built, I don’t know which of them needs more Glucosamine and Chondroitin.

  13. “Now I can pretend that Stalker, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and the Punisher were all in ‘Nam together!

    Wait… you mean… they weren’t?”

My first thought was “You didn’t already?” Yours is better.

  14. Hmm, guess he’s the Last in Line.

“Now I can pretend that Stalker, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and the Punisher were all in ‘Nam together!”

Of those four, three wrote books about what happened.

Of those three books, two got published.

Of those two, just one got a movie deal.

    (Well, until August anyway.)
