“Definition of Emo,” You May Lay Down Your Burden…

…for I have found my new favorite Archie panel:

…and quite possibly my new favorite panel from anything ever.

OK…that’s a little creepy. Why? Because this was my entry in this year’s 24 Hour Comics Day, made less than a month ago:

    Dear God!

He has stolen the headband of Luke Cage, Hero for Hire!

    Awesome panel.

Prankster, great tribute to both titles, ideas um, artists… you know what i mean.

Although, its a pity not many peoiple will read it. Folks don’t much like to follow links around here.

  4. I can’t tell if he’s addressing the person he’s shooting the lasers at, or announcing his own name before saying his word is law.

    Both scenarios please me.

And Prankster, that is goddamn hilarious. Excellent work!

My guess, out of context, is that “Blort!” is equivalent to the Ultimate Warrior’s infamous “Skronk!”

Because after the Warrior “skronks”, he often says things I think he intends for us to take as law.

…You know, if we could figure out what the effing Shasta he was talking about.

  6. That is the best damn mash up/homage I never thought to ask for, Prankster. Chris’s link is also good (even if I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the Archie-verse’s definition emo). That and bluesader deconstructing the Ultimate Warrior are all reasons why I love this blog so very much.

My word is “necktie,” but you don’t see me bragging about it.

  8. A.R.Yngve says:

People blort, I mean blurt out the strangest things…

  9. Adler says:

    BLORT

  10. Harvey Jerkwater says:

At last, “Judge Dredd” done right.

  11. nightfly says:

“BLORT” is possibly an acronym – Brilliant Lasers of Radical Terror.

Also, a synonym for HOLY CRAP WE ARE FREAKING OUT.

  12. bookrats says:

Prankster – best opening panel ever.

  13. nightfly says:

    …Later!

Prankster, that was Epic Win. Well done!

    The End…
    ?

  14. Wolter says:

Holy crap, that panel is at least 7 distinct kinds of awesome.

And Prankster, that is a sweet, sweet comic.

  15. Danicus Spamicus Decimus Meridius says:

I think he’s saying that ‘Blort’ is the word he uses for ‘law’.

“Blort: my word is synonymous with law”

  16. Prankster says:

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it. I wouldn’t normally self-promote like that, but hey, it was a perfect fit with the subject matter.

Now I’d kinda like to see the rest of that Archie story, to see how much I overlapped with the real thing. What issue is it from?

  17. MichaelFromJamaicaNY says:

I never knew Mantlo wrote for Archie.

Not much; it’s actually not a direct Kirby homage. It’s even stranger, and I’m planning on covering it here next week.

  19. Andrew says:

Holy shit! Actual content on the blog instead of a link somewhere else? I don’t believe it!

  20. David says:

Chris: That’s well and good, and we appreciate it, but of all the times to leave out your requisite purchasing link, why now?

  21. Evan Waters says:

We need more Blort license plates in the gift shop! I repeat, we are out of Blort license plates!

  22. Prankster says:

No, my son is also named Blort.

  23. “Holy shit! Actual content on the blog instead of a link somewhere else? I don’t believe it!”

Holy shit, I can’t believe people are still bitching about Chris linking to CONTENT HE DID SOMEWHERE ELSE THAT IS UP TO HIS USUAL STANDARDS AND FREE AND WHY ARE YOU THIS WAY, COMMENTERS? Wait, is the reason that Chris didn’t say that in his usual way because Andrew’s his pal or something? Did I step on an inside joke? If so, I apologize. If not, my scorn still stands.
