The Birds of Prey Betting Pool

Long-time ISB readers–or at least, those of you who were around about a year ago–might recall that Birds of Prey was the title I read month-to-month the longest, racking up a whopping 106 straight months on my pull list. So needless to say, I’m actually pretty excited about the comic’s return this week under Gail Simone, and to celebrate, I’ve got a rundown of potential new team members, from the likely suspects to one that’ll never in a million years actually happen… but that definitely should.

  1. important superhero question of the day: how big does a rack have to be in order for it to qualify as its own superpower?

come to think of it, that might make a nice Ask Chris question.

  2. Wouldn’t Amethyst automatically suck? I can’t see a book that’s so Black Alice in tone being able to incorporate Amethyst. I think.

  3. I would love if Amethyst was included.

What I’m wondering is how long it will be before Dove’s costume get sexifiied. With all the bare legs and midriffs on that team, she seems positively prudish in her all-in-one body stocking.

Not that I want her costume to become “sexy.” I still wish they’d change Huntress’ costume back.

  4. As much as I simply adore Batwoman like no other female superhero (finallyyyy a heroine I can call my favourite! And one that’s actually creepy, no less! Been waiting for that for so long!), and as happy as I am to see the Birds back, I gotta agree Kate works better as a solo character. Can’t even imagine her right now with a sidekick since it’s still early in her story, but in the future? Hellz yeah. And I would get a kick out of the prospect of a MALE sidekick to a FEMALE superhero. It would be epic and unique and all kinds of win and awesome. It’s about time they let it happen, methinks.

Too bad they’ll never go that route. :/

As for which hero I’d like to see joining the Birds, I’d say Renee would be my pick. She is a fine character in need of more exposure. Love the character design, she’d really stand out from the rest of the Birds.

Tulip I’ve never heard of but the way she’s been described cracks me up, so I’d be happy to see her as well. It’s hysterical such a foulmouthed person is named TULIP of all things. Makes her even funnier. :) She’d quickly become a favourite of mine, I’m sure of it.

  5. Frankly, adding Dove to the team feels unwieldy as it is. I want them to go back to more espionage-based stuff with the book, but adding anyone else to the team makes it seem too unweildy.
