So have you guys heard about this whole Scott Pilgrim thing? It’s based on a movie, I think? Well, now it’s available in its entirety on the iPad, complete with bonus features, and I’ve written up a few thoughts on it.
Most of what I’d say about reading it was already covered in that long love note to digital comics I wrote about a week after I got my iPad, but there are a few things I quite like about Scott Pilgrim specifically that work very well digitally. So go read!
Speaking of the video game…
You wrote that whole article just for the final punchline panel, didn’t you? Pretty sneaky, sis.
I skipped the iPad in favor of the iPhone 4, and the iPhone version of this app (like the DC and, as far as I know, Marvel apps) is not optimized for the iPhone 4’s quad-resolution display, which means it looks shoddy and pixellated. Which for Scott Pilgrim is a point of authenticity, I suppose.
Wait, I am wrong- the app’s interface suffers from the Retina Display non-optimization problem, but the comics themselves (at least the free ones) do not, it appears. My apologies.
Also, as Sonic 2 was my first home console game of my own, I would buy the heck out of a poster of that spread from vol 4.
I totally missed the Kim Pine solo story, so thanks for throwing that link in there.
And in truly weird tech news:
Apple has filed a patent application for a software process that converts video game play into (among other things) a comic book
I suspect the bastard offspring of such a process would look less like Scott Pilgrim, and more like Darkest Night.
