Superman’s Pal is Back

Long-time ISB readers may recall that I am something of a fan of Jimmy Olsen, and as jealous as I am that I’m not writing them, I’ve been looking forward to Nick Spencer and RB Silva’s take on him in the pages of Action Comics. And now that I’ve read it — thanks to the fact that it’s up on both the DC Comics app and Comixology’s website — I can say this with absolute certainty: Superman’s Pal is Back!

I loved this story, and to find out why and get my thoughts on what makes him work as a character and why he hasn’t for so long, click through to ComicsAlliance to read my full review. It’s great, great comics.

  1. I’m getting a ‘Miles Edgeworth really let himself go’ vibe from the fellow on the left. Someone please back me up on this.

  2. I’d like to see you appear in a DCU story, Chris, just so they could draw you with steam coming out of your ears when Lucy Lane walks by.

  3. Great article, and I look forward to reading the Jimmy comic. Just one mistake, it’s not actually true that Kirby said he’d take whatever was the worst selling comic and turn it into a best seller. Mark Evanier clarified this. What Kirby actually did was create his 4th World Saga and also took on Jimmy Olsen because there was nobody attached to it and he didn’t want to take away work from any other writers or artists.

  4. James Robinson gets a lot (some rightful) hate, but I love the man for throwing all of Countdown in the shitter Jimmy Olsen wise and at least starting the road that lead here.

Olsen back ups look great, Action all the way 2010
