In this week’s installment of my Comics Culture Q&A column, I take on the task of reviewing 101 issues of Amazing Spider-Man all at once with a look back at Spider-Man’s “Brand New Day” and the two years of thrice-monthly Spidey comics. Short version: Yeah, it was pretty good.
Also, while the spookiness of last week’s column may have abated now that we’re past Halloween, it’s not completely gone, because I have not one, not two, but three pictures of the Franken-Hero I came up with, courtesy of a trio of extremely talented artists! So check it out!
And remember: If you draw something for me once, I will inevitably attempt to rope you into drawing more. Just ask Rusty.
you really need to read the rhino story. you’re letting your kelly bias keep you from reading a story that’s at least as good as shed.
It’s not really a “bias” if it’s just “not reading a comic by a writer whose work I don’t particularly enjoy.” I’m not “biased” against, say, fishsticks, I just don’t like them.
Sounds like bias against the comic itself to me :p
Which is fine, there’s definitely writers I’m hesitant to give a chance. I’m just saying, you should give the Rhino issues a chance. It’s only 2 issues.
that was poorly worded and I cant edit. but basically when i said you were being biased, thats exactly what i meant- you wont read a book because you dont like the writer’s past work. that’s fair. but you should try it anyway. my personal recommendation, as someone who didnt care one way or the other for american son or most of his other spiderman stuff.
