A Christmas Gift For You

Hope it fits!

FlashBack Universe Presents…

The Saturn Knight Before Christmas!

Just in time for Christmas, click the image above to read the FlashBack Universe’s latest full-length comic, written by me, drawn by “Peerless” Pierre Villeneuve, and colored by an all-star team of Santa’s Little Helpers! The link’ll take you to a webcomic-style layout, but as with all FlashBack comics, it’s also available as a free download in .cbr format, although if you like it, feel free to donate and encourage Jim Shelley to give me some more work.

As long-time ISB readers might realize, “Saturn Knight Before Christmas” is the first full-length comic that I’ve written to be made available to the public, and I can honestly say that I think it’s one of the best things I’ve done. As arrogant as it is to say it, there’s a line in there that still cracks me up, and I hope you guys enjoy it too.

Bonus Update: If webcomic and .cbr aren’t enough formats for you, “Saturn Knight Before Christmas” is now available on the iPod and iPhone via ComicZeal! It’s free when you download the program via the Apple App Store!

  1. Chris–

I’m a longtime reader who hardly ever comments, but I just had to tell you that I really loved this story. It reminded me of comics from when I was a kid, and I could see this story working for both kids and adults, like the good old days! I haven’t read any other Flashback stories, but, just like when I might have picked up a random Marvel or DC comic that had characters I didn’t know, now I want to find out who everyone is! So I guess I’d better get reading! :-)

Seriously, Chris, thanks. It was really fun.

  2. Nice story. And reading it in the .cbr format was pretty sweet. Never tried that out before, but I like it. I’ll have to check out the rest of the Flashback U stuff.

  3. A new christmas classic…The only thing that would have made it better is Burl Ives as a snowman singing the Saturn Knight theme song…

  4. Excellent story. I must note that Robot Chicken had a laser-shooting Rudolph in one of their eps (“Why did you think it glowed like this?”), but your story also featured a dude hitting people with the North Pole. You win. Well played, Mr. Sims, and Merry Christmas!

  5. I was kind of ambivalent up until the “HANUKKRAK!” sound effect, at which point all my resistance failed. Well played, good sir.

  6. That was pretty gear, as only the kids in old Teen Titans’ stories used to say!

    Well done.

    Merry Christmas, Mr. Sims.

  7. Loved the holiday-themed sound effects. That kid, though…man, talk about nightmare fuel. I’m going to dream of those teeth.

  8. Of course the lump of coal tradition started in Russia, where it was the good kids who got the coal (so, yknow, they wouldn’t freeze to death) and the bad kids got taken away in the sack, so I think a boxing-glove-box makes more sense all round. Would’ve liked to have seen Santa Play that trick on Darkseid actually, so there you go, you’ve oneuped Templeton in my book.

  9. The elves don’t grow on trees, Earl, no matter what Keebler would have you believe. It’s a necessary sacrifice that bad children make to ensure that good children get Xboxes. Coal was just the equivalent toy of the time(and the requisite teabagging was much more humiliating when you beat an opponant at “Coal”), but in a pinch both heat your house.
