Time and Time Again: A Brief History of DC’s Many, Many Reboots

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that most of you are already aware of DC’s impending line-wide relaunch in the wake of Flashpoint. It’s kind of been in the news lately.

But the thing is, this really isn’t anything new, which is why I went back through the company’s history to provide a brief history of DC’s reboots and revisions, starting with the formation of the DC Universe in 1940 and running right through five Supermans, four Legions of Super-Heroes and a number of Hawkmen that even Brian Blessed would balk at.

The more things change, everybody.

Silver Age Remix: Kerry Callen and I Do Green Lantern’s War of Light in the Silver Age!

If you’re someone who likes Great Comics That Never Happened, then you’re probably going to get a kick out of the newest art feature we’ve got going over at ComicsAlliance: Silver Age Remix, in which the incredible Kerry Callen and I take a look at what would’ve happened if DC’s major modern-day event comics would’ve happened back in the Silver Age.

For our first one, we’ve got a look at Green Lantern and the Silver Age War of Light! And there’s more coming down the way soon!

Crime Does Pay: Eight Great Noir Comics

Like most everyone else with an XBox and a little free time, I’ve been playing through L.A. Noire lately, and judging by a few Ask Chris questions I’ve gotten, it’s an experience that’s left a lot of us jonesing for more hard-boiled crime stories.

So today, I’ve written up a list of eight great noir comics, from super-heroes to straight up crooks and all the way into true crime. Get that snap-brim on and check ’em out, ya palookas.

(Why oh why did the word “palooka” ever drop out of style?)

Great Comics That Never Happened #23: Slashpoint, with Jess Fink

This week, GCTNH returns with a look at what would’ve happened if DC’s latest event had gone in a different direction and actually brought the legion of shrieking fanfic writers the comic they really want.

Not to build myself up, but this is one of my favorite Great Comics yet, mostly because I got to work with the incredible Jess Fink! I’m a huge fan of hers, and she absolutely nailed — er, so to speak — what I was going for here.

The ComicsAlliance Free Comic Book Day 2011 Rundown

Today at ComicsAlliance, I’m prepping for Free Comic Book Day by writing up a rundown of 10 of the best, worst and weirdest FCBD books that you’ll be able to grab this Saturday for the low low price of zero dollars! So prepare yourself for me to dish out textual high fives to Brian Clevinger, Scott Wegener, Roger Langridge and Chris Samnee, and also see what happens when I get really, really mad about the speculator mindset and the very concept of grading. Like they always taught me back in blogging school, always end on a frothing rant!

The Best and Worst Princesses In Comics

This weekend, the world is getting a brand new princess when Prince William makes it legal with Kate Middleton, and for some reason, people seem to care about this, even though she can’t even control the weather or float.

That’s why today, I’m providing a little contrast and running down her competition in a roundup of the 10 Best (and Worst) Princesses In Comics! And before you ask, yes, I know I skipped her, but she’s from a movie. Same with Xena. Same with Celestia.
