The True Retconned Story of Spider-Man’s Breakup

Today at ComicsAlliance, I’m responding to the news about One Moment In Time, the story that will reveal why Spider-Man and Mary Jane’s marriage never happened in the post-One More Day continuity–with my own version of how comics’ least romantic marriage might’ve been derailed.

I’m not gonna lie, folks: I spend at least 40% of my day just imagining comic book characters saying absolutely horrible things to each other, and now you see where that has led.

  1. I had no idea Mary Jane was such a cold hearted B. That girl need some sexual healing.

  2. @Mike
    What? Are you kidding?

Spider-man is dumping her, when they were going to marry! I’d be fucking pissed too.

Seriously now, Spidey is an incredibly hilarious douche. I’d buy some super hero comics if they had a protagonists like that. I’m fucking sick of nice-sue.

  3. @Theo – read some Authority, they’re all bastards.

Oddly I’ve never read the wedding issue despite the fact that the MJ/Spidey relationship was the one good comic book ongoing romance as far I was concerned (well, Linda/Wally in Flash was alright too when it wasn’t just retreading Supes/Lois material).

Frankly Pete’s love life has never been of much interest to me outside of MJ.

Every time I think I cannot envy you more, you manage to raise the bar.
