ComicsAlliance Presents the Super-Sports Showdowns We Want to See!

And by “we,” of course, I mean “I.”

Yes, with the news that Superman vs. Muhammad Ali is finally getting a well-deserved reprint, my mind has been set to buzzing about which other super-hero/sports hero team-ups could come next!

This article was a little tricky for me to write, as I know next to nothing about sports that are not legally required to add “-entertainment” after the word, but hopefully there are a few jokes in there that you guys’ll get a kick out of. Plus, it features the always-entertaining PhotoShop Wizardry (photoshopzerdry) of ComicsAlliance assistant editor Caleb Goellner, although the one above was produced in house by unpaid llama-based labor here at ISB Central.

Enjoy!

  1. Good stuff as always, though the Photoshop Wizardry featured above is my personal favorite and made me giggle.

Also: enjoyed your Christmas podcast very much. Well done, all.

  2. On the Bane/Hogan front: Hogan has actually defeated the guy who played Bane in Batman & Robin. Uncensored 96 – the Doomsday Cage match (Bane here using the name “The Ultimate Solution” – keep it classy WCW).

And I may know too much about wrestling.

  3. I would seriously pay good money for a Wild Dog vs. Michael Vick comic. Hopefully the proceeds would go to an anti-cruelty group.

  4. But your forgot the part in Aquaman vs. Michael Phelps where it is revealed that Phelps is actually Aquaman’s son, spawned during a youth marijuana-fueled roadtrip on the mainland!

  5. That you missed the obvious choices of Savate master Batroc the Leaper vs. the U.S. Soccer Team, Boomerang vs. Cy Young Award winner Roy Halliday (with the Death-Throws coming in from the bullpen!), Wildcat vs. George Foreman (see not one but TWO retired champs battle for charity!), or NFL Superpro vs… well, anyone, really, makes me sad.

Funny as hell anyways, though. :D
