the 1970s were a very strange time for comic book tie ins, and there are very few that are stranger than The Mighty Marvel Superheroes Cookbook, in which Spider-Man & Co. straight up phone it in with recipes on how to make sandwiches and suggestions for how to decorate your pancakes, before moving on to a (quite literally) unhealthy obsession with “meat spreads.”
So put on your chef hat and/or domino mask and come with me through the extremely bizarre excesses of cooking in the ’70s!
I dunno about the rest of the book, but I’d love to read a story about that fishing trip in the last picture.
I hope that there’s a villain who wears a chef hat and domino mask out there somewhere.
**Amazing** Spidey’s Chocolate Web Pancakes
Prepare pancake batter according to the instructions in the package. Add 1/4 cup of strawberry-flavored gelatin powder and two Tbsps. of red food coloring to the batter. Mix well. Pour colored batter into pre-heated and pre-buttered griddle. Brown on both sides. When done, stack red pancakes on (preferably blue) serving plate and form a web by crossing with liquid chocolate syrup across the top. Cut a manageable piece with a fork, and use the fork from the previous step to put it in your mouth. Enjoy.
Finally, something that makes this comment section worthwhile!
The Hulk actually looks afraid of the salad he’s carrying.
