It’s the 25th installment of Ask Chris, and while I’d originally planned on doing something special for it, I ended up pretty much doing what I always do: taking a simple question about Batman and going off on a tangent for like a million words. Enjoy!

I take issue with your alt-text implying that ANYTHING about Batman is unimportant, even relatively.
I am diehard proval. From a design standpoint, it just really pops.
I remember reading in ‘Wizard’ back in 1997 (as we all did back then) that ‘The New Batman Adventures’ as in fact meant to be MORE kid-friendly, although Bruce Timm did mention that they made Batman darker to contrast with all the kid sidekicks he had. Although given the emphasis on simplified designs for that show, I honestly think Bruce Timm opted for the ‘Year One” look with plain black bat on the chest simply because it would be easier to animate.
But what could be special and representative than a million words on Batman?
