This Issue: BATMAN KILLS!

Everyone knows that the thing that separates Batman from the criminals he fights is that the Batman doesn’t kill. So why not have a look at all those times that Batman totally killed people, a body count that stretches for a solid 70 years.

Most of what’s in there is easily explained away, but there’s at least one–the one that contains the panel above–that if you haven’t read the story, you will probably not believe actually happened. Heck, I’ve got a copy sitting here and I can barely believe it. Enjoy!

  1. There’s a coincidence: last night I watched the episode of Batman: TAS called The Man Who Killed Batman, and today I read about Batman killing men.

  2. Obviously it’d be about Batman, but..this is my favorite CA article from you yet!

  3. I can’t think of a single good “Batman in space” story. I mean, it sounds like a good idea in theory, but Batman in space just never works out very well. Not enough gargoyles to crouch on, I guess.

Back on topic: does killing Ra’s al Ghul really count? The dude’s entire modus operandi is resurrection. That said, normally more than ashes are required…

  4. Skeeter: Does the first episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold count, or is this just comics?

  5. If this panel were Old Time Radio, Batman’s next statement would be “I wonder. I…wonder.”

  6. “Everyone knows that the thing that separates Batman from the criminals he fights is that the Batman doesn’t kill. ”

It’s certainly not his complete dickishness. Thank you for the awesome alt text.

  7. Trevor Von Eden is awesome.

A good Batman-in-space story (also, of course, by Mike W. Barr): Batman and Outsiders vs. Kobra.

And Chris, you have a typo in the story. You added an extra “a” to the sentence: “It makes little more sense when you actually read it.” Just by adding that one letter, you made it sound as if FInal Crisis made sense!

    I kid.
