Behold! The Bathorse!

I may be absolutely terrible at replying to them, but I read every email I get, which comes in handy when someone sends me something absolutely awesome, like a Batman costume made specifically for horses. It’s the kind of thing I had to share with the world, so click that link and head over to ComicsAlliance, where I’ve also written up their Superman costume, preserving the true genius of their headlines.

The Best of “Brave and the Bold: The Lost Issues”

For those of you who have been missing out, Brave and the Bold: The Lost Issues is a site where a guy named Ross singlehandedly justifies the invention of PhotoShop by creating “lost” comics that team Batman up with pretty much anyone in comics. I’ve been following it for a while, and today at ComicsAlliance, I’ve thrown the spotlight on ten of my favorites!

So if you haven’t, check ’em out, although fair warning: You may get super-depressed that these comics do not actually exist.

The Batman XXX Trailer

I’ve known that there was a porn parody of Batman ’66 in the works for a while now (a fact that no one reading this will be surprised at all to find out), but yesterday, the trailer finally hit, and I’ve stepped up to give my expert opinion as a professional Batmanologist.

If you haven’t seen the trailer, watch it–aside from being a trailer for a porn movie, it’s actually safe for work–and believe me when I say that I am seriously hoping to score a review copy, as I’m pretty sure reviewing it would be the highlight of my writing career.

The Journal of Batman Studies: Dick Sprang’s “Secrets of the Batcave”

Today at ComicsAlliance, I’m once again putting my degree in Batmanology to work with a look at Dick Sprang’s “Secrets of the Batcave” lithograph, wherein I do my level best to play Jess Nevins by identifying every bat-tchotchke Sprang drew.

Unfortunately, even with Michael Fleisher’s truly indispensable Batman Encyclopedia and my own not inconsiderable collection of Golden and Silver Age Batman reprints, I couldn’t even come close to annotating the whole thing. That’s why I’ve opened the floor for you guys, to see if we can’t all come together and make a fully annotated version of “Secrets of the Batcave!”

If you know where something comes from (and if you can prove it with a scanned panel or an issue number), then leave a comment on CA, and we’ll see if we can’t do this thing up right!

In Which I Analyze The Living Hell Out Of Shirtless Caveman Bruce Wayne

This morning, two black-and-white preview pages from the upcoming Return of Bruce Wayne hit the web, and as is the style with Grant Morrison’s various projects, I’ve been called upon to annotate the deeper meanings of the story before it’s even out. And that’s exactly what I have done, tying ROBW to Final Crisis through an in-depth study of Batman’s truly diabolical six-pack.

This may be one of my favorite things I’ve written for ComicsAlliance–and in general–and it’s definitely the piece that I’ve had the most fun writing in a long, long time. So enjoy, and witness the depths of my devotion.
