War Rocket Ajax #67: Solving All The Problems with Ethan Nicolle

This week on War Rocket Ajax, Matt and I welcome Ethan Nicolle, co-creator of Axe Cop to the show to talk about what it’s like to be the man behind an Internet phenomenon, and the difficulties and rewards of working with a 7 year-old collaborator. I do my best, but I warn you: At some point it does devolve into me going “remember that? That was awesome.”

Plus, we discuss the death of Osama bin Laden — specifically, how I found out in the most South Carolinian way possible — and while we don’t have a Hundo Club member this week, we do have the exasperated (and exasperating) return of Big Ups To All My Haters! So get to dispatching, rocketeers!

Wait, did we decide that was the name for listeners? I have no idea.

War Rocket Ajax #66: Watch Out For Dracula with Jay Pinkerton

This week on War Rocket Ajax, Matt and I have a chat with our pal Jay Pinkerton, the man who hired us both to work for Cracked back in the day and has since moved on to become one of the writers of Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead 2, a pair of obscure video games that you probably haven’t heard of.

Unfortunately, I don’t have much to say about those since first-person shooters make me ill — not a metaphor — and that means that it wasn’t until this morning when I was looking for pictures for this post that I started bugging Matt with startling revelations. “Wait, this game stars a sexy girl in a tank top, but it’s a first-person shooter so you never see her? And she’s not even on the box?! The hell kind of game is this?!”

Plus, all the other fun stuff! Give it a listen!

Also, for those of you who want to hear me talk about me — and who doesn’t? — I was the guest on this week’s ORCCAcast, where I had a great time talking about my work for ComicsAlliance and Cracked, but mostly just steered the conversation to my thoughts on the world of professional wrestling.

War Rocket Ajax #65: Halfway Through, Set Someone On Fire with Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt

This week on War Rocket Ajax, Matt and I welcome Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt to the show to talk about their amazing supernatural western The Sixth Gun as well as The Damned (not the band) and other titles. Plus, inevitably, after finding out that they’re from St. Louis, I once again ask the dreaded question about barbecue, which is really only funny to me at this point.

Plus, we’ve got another Hundo Club member in the third chair and a listener question where we get to bash both Family Guy and Glee! Don’t miss it!

War Rocket Ajax #64: Hells Damns and Anachronisms with Brian Clevinger

This week on War Rocket Ajax, Atomic Robo writer Brian Clevinger returns to the show to talk about his sadly abbreviated Captain America story and the digital future of comic books.

Plus, I give a nepotistic shout-out to Troop Infinity, Matt and I suffer through the most boring “Check Yourself” segment, and more! Stream or download from the website now, or listen (and review) on iTunes!

War Rocket Ajax #63: Domino Sense with Chris Burnham

This week, for what I think might be the first time ever, War Rocket Ajax gets a guest who has actually worked regularly on Batman (and apologies to anyone and if I’m getting that wrong)! Batman Inc. artist Chris Burnham sits down to talk to us about what it’s like to draw the Caped Crusader, and I somehow manage to not turn it into an episode of the Chris Farley Show!

Also, we’re joined by another Hundo Club winner and report on THE WEEK OF TRIUMPHS! Find out who was nominated for an Eisner award this year, my most crushing Michael Jai White-centric regret and what STDs you can get just by picking a book by Tucker Max up off the street!

War Rocket Ajax #62: Look At The Rednecks with Jeff Parker

This week on War rocket Ajax, our slow transition into a food-based podcast continues as Jeff Parker returns to talk about the Hulk, Barbecue, and the shocking return of the year!

Plus, our final Pledge Drive Donation Incentive is a good one, I recount tales of medical horror, and Matt and I express an entire range of emotions over the WWe’s Top 50 Superstars, none of which are what you’d call “happiness.”

War Rocket Ajax #62: War Rocket Armory with Evie & Aaron

This week, War Rocket Ajax gets completely insane (moreso than usual) as we sit down for the entire show with our good friends, the local band to our high school kids, Evie & Aaron from Awesomed By Comics! I’ve been on their show twice in recent memory, so Matt and I invited them on ours to talk about the aww-inspiring story of their romance.

This, of course, turned into me reading pages of Punisher Armory, the world’s most insane comic book, live on the show. I don’t know how. Maybe you can figure it out.

Catch all that plus the usual checks and recs at the link above, or when the iTunes feed updates later tonight!
