Comic books are full of alternate universe stories, and they’re really good at exactly one thing: absolutely slaughtering characters. Today at ComicsAlliance, I run down some of the best, worst and weirdest alternate universe death scenes in comics!
What If could do worse than merely kill characters, far far worse. I recall a issue where the Hulk finally married Betty, only to turn into an abuser. After he emotionally destroys her and drives her to suicide, the “comic” ends w/ something like “But don’t worry, not all abuse ends like this!” and gives the number for a domestic violence hotline. Comics, everybody!
I used to have that Punisher What-If!
My favorite was the “What if the Fantastic Four’s Second Child Had Lived?” issue. It presented two possibilities, one where she had healing powers and became super Jesus, and one where she was a terrifying monster in the form of a little girl who fed on people’s energy until they died. I remember the evil scenario being freaky as shit.
I have to know where Wolverine gets his shoes. Those are some durable piecesof footwear.
