Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. #1: Complete!

It’s my birthday, but I’m giving you a present: all 25 pages of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. #1 by me, Chris Piers and Steve Downer, plus a letter column and three amazing pin-ups are waiting at the Action Age today!

The pin-ups come courtesy of Rusty Shackles (who took time off from drawing The Hard Ones to knock out a beautiful shot of Penny, Ricky and everyone’s favorite amorous henchman, Gustav) and the phenomenal Kate Holden! Long-time ISB readers will remember Kate as the artist who took my idea of Batman with Nunchuks Made of Sharks and ran with it to make one of my favorite pictures ever. What you might not know, however, is that she was originally slated to be the artist of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. and even helped during the writing phase to make sure my Britishisms didn’t get too egregious. Well, except Ricky, but that was on purpose. Sadly, a scheduling conflict meant she couldn’t do the book, but it worked out okay in the end: Chris Piers and Steve Downer stepped up to the art chores and did a phenomenal job, and Kate returned for a pin-up that I just love. You all did a great job, guys.

Here’s hoping you enjoy it, folks, and let me know if you want to see more from Penny Devlin: Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N.!

  1. I mean no offense by this at all, I promise forever.

But if getting to read The Hard Ones meant Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. was never heard from again, well, these things happen.

BUT, I’d still like to see moar? Seriously, this was hardcore. This comic has Dr. Mindestro and David Tennant (minus his bizarre chicken-like head), and that rules.

  2. Congratulations on another excellent Action Age release. I love Penny Devlin and her supporting cast like a tone of bricks and can’t wait to read more.

  3. So, Ricky IS meant to look like David Tennant, right? Cause that’s all I see whenever I see him. Was that a direction from you, or am I seeing things?

  4. Loved it!
Also on one of those panels, Hinkley was a dead ringer for Stephen Fry who, of course, played Jeeves in Jeevs and Wooster.

    Bravo.

  5. I was wondering what happened to her panties.

Erm, I mean, I…nah. Forget it. I really was wondering what happened to her panties.

Great job all around, you’s peoples!

  6. So, like Ricky would likely say: An all-around smashing good job, old chaps!

I’m perfectly willing to make as many of my pages Action Ages as is possible.
