This week on War Rocket Ajax, we recorded live on the floor of HeroesCon 2013 (on Matt’s birthday, no less!) with a cast of thousandshundredsdozens eighteen! We went around asking friends of the show like Matt Fraction, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Tom Fowler, Ming Doyle and more a simple question: “What was one thing you’ve seen at a convention that left you speechless?”
The results, as you might expect, veer wildly between heartwarming and horrifying, and you can listen to it all right here.
War Rocket Ajax #119: Farm Stuff at HeroesCon 2013
This week, Matt and I are back with the second episode of Movie Fighters, where we take on Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li! Even my delight over the appearance of Taboo from the Black-Eyed Peas as Vega couldn’t temper the dread I was feeling over seeing a complete and utter nonsense version of my favorite Street Fighter’s origin story. But we did it, and now you can listen to it for a mere $1!
In the episode, we go through all the mind-boggling details, plus I share the story of my childhood crush on Chun-Li, and things get a little weird. For more (including the live-action, check out the Movie Fighters Tumblr! And if you’re curious about that Dudley/Balrog story I wrote, you can buy that right here!
This week on War Rocket Ajax, Matt and I are sitting down for a chat with my old pal Jeremy Dale, and his lovely wife (and editor) Kelly Dale! We met a while back when Jeremy and Kelly lived in the area and I worked at the comic book store where he shopped, but you might know Jeremy as the artist of the G.I. Joe Comic Two-Pack comics, telling the startling stories of Battle-Damaged Snake-Eyes, and if you’re an artist, you may know Kelly as the world’s biggest Firestar fan. Today, though, we focus on Jeremy’s new comic, Skyward, a fantasy adventure he’s been working on for years, with some very solid coloring. Hmmmmm.
Plus, Matt’s been watching wrestling, and I’ve got a comic out. You’ve already got your copy, right? Right.

The Double Dragon Neon soundtrack is pretty great, much as I hate to admit it.
Hey! If you missed it last week, the Chris Sims vs. Mark Waid Batman Trivia Contest Bonus Episode went up! Go listen to it now! We’ll be doing another installment in the future to see who reigns supreme.
This week on War Rocket Ajax, the inimitable Mark Waid joins us for an in-depth discussion of craft, character and the future of comics. I know, we were pretty surprised, too. But don’t worry, all the serious talk eventually goes out the window and we get down to talking about his work on Marvel’s Indestructible Hulk and Red Batman. Plus, it’s the thrilling return of Love Haters, Chris is launching a new comic, and Matt saw a racist comedian. Thrills about, people. Thrills. Abound.

Today, Matt Wilson and I are launching our newest project, Movie Fighters! If you read the movie reviews that we used to do at ComicsAlliance, then you’re already familiar with the format: We pick a (usually terrible) movie and go in-depth with it so you don’t have to. Movie Fighters is the same style, but instead of breaking it up into a two-part review, we’re doing it as an all-new audio experience. It’s like it’s being broadcast directly to your iPod or other MP3 playing device! We call it… a podcast.
The first episode is up now, where we go head-to-head with 1994’s genuinely terrible Double Dragon, and you can get the whole thing for just one dollar. And if you’ve already donated to the War Rocket Ajax fundraiser, then there’s a download code for the first episode waiting for you in your inbox. We’ll be doing the show biweekly, starting with finishing our promised round-up of fighting movie games, going through Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Tekken, King of Fighters, and then on to our next listener-voted series. Will we finally be forced to sit through all five (six? seven?)Â Resident Evil movies? Who knows?
If you still have doubts, you can listen to the first track (our introduction, where we talk about skating rinks and beat-em-ups) for free, so please give it a shot and let us know what you think!
This week on War Rocket Ajax, Greg Rucka is back to talk about his highly successful Kickstarter for Lady Sabre and the Pirates of the Ineffable Aether! Also, and I know this is going to be shocking, we talk about Batman a little bit. Plus, barbecue and wrestling are the two great tastes that taste great together, and we announce our brand new project!
War Rocket Ajax #158: A Man Who Seeks Revenge with Greg Rucka
This week on War Rocket Ajax, we’re joined by my ex-boss, Caleb Goellner, for a show that’s equal parts a memorial for ComicsAlliance and a pretty optimistic chat about his awesome comics, Task Force Rad Squad and Mermaid Evolution. It’s a long one, clocking in at almost two hours, but… well, we had a lot to say. Plus: Love Haters, Matt finally discovers Copra, and yet another discussion of why Chris can’t play the shootin’ games that all the cool kids like so much.
